Peru is one hell of a colourful place! Their textiles alone are stitched from such colourful threads and wools dyed in the most vibrant of colours. It was a struggle not to empty out my backpack and fill it with throws, and wraps, and rugs, and scarves! Well, I managed one scarf and one rug 😉

It was after starting work on #mygtsprep (this years Global Talent Search competition with Lilla Rogers) I discovered some less obvious palettes. The task was to find new palettes, colours I wouldn’t usually pick or put together. The first thing that came to mind was to pick from snaps of my first South American trip, and I think I have a few goods selections to work from in my competition pieces.

I found subtle earthy tones from dusty floors and dirt tracks on mountain sides; fresh summery hues from gorgeous clear skies and beautifully decorated churches; and vibrant reds picked from rather bizarre masks, shall we say, up for sale in the energetic and bustling indoor markets . . .
